Enneagram in the Narrative Tradition Professional Training Program

The  Enneagram Professional Training Program (EPTP) is designed for those who would like to pursue teacher certification or use the Enneagram in their professional practice or workplace. This course is open to anyone with some prior knowledge of the Enneagram who wants to participate in an intensive growth process in a safe and receptive community dedicated to diversity.

We teach in the Narrative Tradition of people speaking on their own behalf. We have found that the most effective way to teach the Enneagram and recognise personality differences is through people speaking from their own experience. Much of the learning happens when participants are seated with people of their same type, sharing their insights and personal stories.

Section 1:The Enneagram Intensive

A six-day course integrating psychological life and spirit. Now offered in two parts of three days online.

Also offered as a stand-alone workshop, the Enneagram Intensive offers a full examination of the structure and psychodynamics of the nine personality types, including the basic proposition, instinctual subtypes, patterns of personal reactivity and defence mechanisms. Participants ficus on personal development and relationship issues with other types through self-inquiry, process interactions and specific strategies for change. At the present time the facilitator is Peter O’Hanrahan. Helen Palmer is present through a recorded set of 12 powerful guided meditations.

Section 2: The Typing Process

A three-day training on typing interviews and panel facilitation.

This course is offered as a stand-alone professional training or Section 2 of the Enneagram Professional Training Program for teacher certification.

This powerful in-depth training provides a hands-on learning experience on how to conduct typing interviews and to assist others in determining their Enneagram type through inquiry. This training brings a deep and compassionate understanding of-and respect for- the complexity of each Enneagram type. You also will learn the keys to differentiating one type from another, and how to conduct panels in the Narrative Tradition.

This workshop is designed for coaches, therapists, spiritual directors, teachers, business leaders and others who wish to deepen their knowledge of the Enneagram and use it as a tool in their professional lives.

Section 3: The Internship Process

Typing and panel interviews – offsite supervised practicum.

Each student selects a supervisor or mentor from the program and conducts 18 typing interviews and two panel practice sessions, half of which are coached by the supervisor or mentor. These sessions focus on both technical skills and self-management of the interview and inquiry process. This one-on-one relationship with an experienced certified teacher provides an excellent context for further learning and practice.

Section 4 Instincts and Subtypes

This is a new addition to the Australian curriculum and can be done at any stage of the certification process.

Every person has three instincts (self-preservation), intimate and social) but one of these tends to be more central in our daily lives and relationships. This primary instinct determines our Enneagram subtype.

Through panels, presentations and small groups, we will explore issues for all of the 27 subtypes, including:

  • Making informed choices about our personal priorities and major projects
  • How subtypes affect our relationships at home and at work
  • How to balance work, home and intimacy
  • Managing the emotional habit of our type
  • How to live with authenticity while adapting to a rapidly changing culture

This weekend program may be taken as a stand-alone workshop or as part of the International EPTP. We recommend that you have some previous study of the Enneagram, including an understanding of the nine types. To learn more about subtypes visit www.EnneagramWork.com
